Hurricane Sandy Day of Service

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. WE ARE AT CAPACITY FOR THIS EVENT!

The New York Alumni Chapter Board of Directors invites you to participate in a service event on Saturday, Jan. 5. This is a great way to give back to those who have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy and practice the Jesuit ideal of "men and women for and with others.

Come join Loyola alumni and current students for a day of Service in the Rockaways/Breezy Point as we work with Operation Blessing. Let us take this opportunity as a Loyola family to help those members of our community who were deeply affected by this terrible storm and aftermath.

We have reserved a bus for those of you who need transportation to the Rockaways.

For those that are taking the bus:

The bus will leave at 8 a.m. from Park Avenue Tavern.

The bus will depart Breezy Point between 2 and 3 p.m.

For those driving:

Please arrive in Breezy Point by 9 a.m.
When you are driving into Breezy Point there will be a guard house. Please inform the guard you are volunteering with Operation Blessing.
There is a parking lot at the end of 8th Avenue you can park in. One of our volunteers lives about a block away. Below is his address, and it can be used as a reference point. We suggest you look at MapQuest or Google Maps prior to embarking.

Please proceed to the above address after parking; the Operation Blessing volunteer coordinator will meet us there.

What to wear: Please dress appropriately and wear warm clothes (green and grey colors or Loyola apparel is preferred), especially boots, hats and gloves because we will be working outside.

What to bring: If possible, please bring plastic spray bottles full of bleach and/or shovels. Other supplies will be provided but additional supplies are always needed.
